The current generation of Mitsubishi’s popular pickup was introduced in 2015. It’s time for some changes. Everyone believes the new generation of Mitsubishi’s popular pickup will be available in the next year as the Mitsubishi L200 2024. Although the company is keeping most details secret, some aspects of this new model can be easily predicted.
Naturally, what comes to mind first is that Mitsubishi is now part of Renault Nissan Alliance. We are certain that the next-generation Navara will share many things with Mitsubishi. This model is also due for a redesign. Both models will share the same platform and possibly the powertrain.
2024 Mitsubishi L200 Redesign
Nine years after the original generation, the new generation will arrive. There will be many changes. The new platform will also bring about radical changes. The 2024 Mitsubishi L200 is expected to switch to the F-Alpha platform from Nissan, which also supports the current Nissan pickup. We are confident that the L200 will see many improvements to its architecture.
The suspension setup is one of the first things to come to mind. The outgoing model has leaf springs at the rear, but the new Navara has an independent suspension. We assume that Mitsubishi will also use this setup. This will have a significant impact on ride quality.
The test mule was spotted on the road, which is a good sign for its exterior design. It still sports a camouflage uniform, so aesthetics are difficult to discuss. The new model is bolder and more aggressive, however. The new model has larger dimensions with a longer wheelbase and a greater total length.
The new model should be available in two layouts, just like the current one. We expect to see the new model in a single-cab layout with only one row of seats, and a longer cargo bed.
The interior quality has been the biggest problem with Mitsubishi’s pickup. The focus was on functionality, but today’s market demands that all aspects be considered. We expect the Mitsubishi L200 2024 to follow in the footsteps of models such as Navara or Hilux which have very nice interiors with high-quality materials and lots of attention to detail.
The new model will be available in either a single row or double rows, as we have already stated. The larger dimensions will allow for more passengers, particularly in the second row, where there should be more legroom.
The 2024 Mitsubishi L200’s engine is still unknown. Different reports have suggested different scenarios. It makes sense to see the engines of Nissan under the hood, considering that the new model will be built on Nissan’s F-Alpha platform. This is the familiar 2.3-liter turbodiesel. It comes in two output versions, with 160 or 190 horsepower.
Mitsubishi’s current engine, however, is a remarkable unit with an excellent balance of efficiency and capability. A 2.4-liter turbodiesel with 176 horsepower and 400 Nm torque is what we are referring to. Many reports also suggest that a plug-in hybrid version will be available. Mitsubishi has a long history of producing such powertrains with great success. It wouldn’t surprise that the next-generation L200 will feature such a powertrain.
2024 Mitsubishi L200 Release Date & Price
The 2024 Mitsubishi L200 is expected to hit the market in the second half of next year. However, it’s too early to speak about a specific date. The competition will not change. These models include the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, and Isuzu D-Max.
