Mercedes-Benz has started to test the development of a pure electric compact vehicle that is more efficient, geared towards range and possibly less expensive in comparison to the EQA SUV. The German automaker is planning to become completely electric if market conditions allow it by 2030. As it moves away from combustion engines the need for a separate brand of electricity will no longer be required according to this German news report. Using the same name for all of its vehicles shortly, which includes the CLA will also help avoid confusion.
