Mercedes-Benz has started to test the development of a pure electric compact vehicle that is more efficient, geared towards range and possibly less expensive in comparison to the EQA SUV. The car was showcased in it’s Mercedes Concept CLA Class, and set to launch as the first 2024 Mercedes CLA Electric in late 2024 and could establish a few standards in the field.
The future EV models manufactured by Mercedes-Benz from 2024 onwards will not have the brand name EQ according to an article in the Handelsblatt report, published on the 12th of January 2023. EQ is a reference to “Electric intelligence” and the values of the brand are “emotion and intelligence,” launched in the market along with the Mercedes EQC in the year 2019.
The German automaker is planning to become completely electric if market conditions allow it by 2030. As it moves away from combustion engines the need for a separate brand of electricity will no longer be required according to this German news report. Using the same name for all of its vehicles shortly, which includes the CLA will also help avoid confusion.

Along the side, and in addition to the extra-slippery roofline, precise joints, and closed lines, we are expecting strong wheel arches, large 20-inch wheels, and doors with flush fittings to become a part of the design highlights. We anticipate a shorter rear deck and a long rear overhang that will contribute to the car’s athletic style. The windows in the rear are slightly bigger than those on the CLA currently.
