The 2024 Acura ZDX was something of a moonshot for the cautious Acura brand, launching head-first into the then-rising SUV coupe market with the foundations of the performance sedan (but it wasn’t the engine, sadly). It was a good idea due to the unexpected popularity that was the BMW X6, but it did not take off similarly. The brand is attempting to get its feet wet once more and putting the nameplate on its first electric vehicle, though, in 2024 Acura ZDX is a more typical-looking SUV.

The ZDX is billed by the company as “the most powerful and quickest accelerating SUV” in Acura history the ZDX will be available in the Type S performance trim promising 500 horsepower total from an electric motor that is mounted on each axle. Based on that power that battery’s 102-kWh capacity is 288 miles. The A-Spec’s base model is available with either a single- or dual-motor powertrain with the single motor producing 335 horsepower, while the dual-motor output has not been determined yet, but probably higher. Its range is increased up to 325 miles with the single motor and 315 miles with the dual motor. Single-motor models come with rear-drive technology that should give them the model with a sporty look.
Additionally, it helps the rear and front multilink suspensions that Acura claims are adjusted to ensure a balance between handling and refinement. A-Spec models are based on coil springs as well as passive adaptive dampers. The ZDX Type S will feature an adjustable air suspension that can be adjusted in height and electronically controlled active dampers. It will, of course, be tuned to optimize performance driving and will have several driving modes.
Type S also gets Brembo six-piston front brakes that clamp considerably larger 15.6-inch rotors than the 12.6-inch in the A-Spec. Both models share identical rear brakes. They will be encased by 20-inch wheels that are All-season tires for A-Spec, and 22-inch wheels fitted with summer or all-season tires for the Type S. Getting the summer tires will also change the gloss wheels from the machined finish for black models.
The style is similar to the Precision EV Concept of a year back. In typical Acura and Honda designs, the Concept cars are close to being produced. Exaggerated elements have been cut back, and the lighting on the exterior has been lowered but the fundamentals are the same. In contrast to the original ZDX, the latest model does not sway too much on its “coupe” roofline thereby preserving the rear headroom and storage space. It’s essentially an RDX that is sleeker with a solid grille that is lit across the entire top edge.
Engine & Specs
Its “state-of-the-art electric vehicle platform” which is the foundation of the ZDX is the GM’s Ultium motor and battery technology that the General utilizes for all of the new EVs and is also used in the forthcoming Honda Prologue. Acura states that the Prologue can charge up to 191 kW, and as such the most efficient A-Spec rear-drive version will provide the equivalent of 81 miles in just 10 minutes. The 190 kW model is significantly slower than the other Ultium cars and we expect to see software upgrades shortly to will speed up the process.
Acura hasn’t yet revealed what charge port its ZDX will be equipped with, namely the CCS Combo standard or Tesla’s NACS plug. A lot of automakers are moving over to NACS as well, including General Motors, but when we tried to reach Honda and Acura to inquire about their plans their press offices rebuffed the inquiry without responding.
The brand-new Acura phone application will help 2024 Acura ZDX owners locate charging stations. Once you’ve set up your profile and billing, permit the charging of your phone for networks that are supported, meaning you don’t have to download multiple apps or use credit cards to swipe. Acura states that over 90 percent of the current DC quick charging services will be listed on the application. Homeowners, the brand Acura Home Electrification digital store will connect you to electricians in your area who can install the Charger that is Level 2.
Features
Accessing those charging points is a breeze thanks to the full Google functions built-in. Along with other functions the application creates Google Maps the navigation system and it can be displayed directly on either the 11.0-inch digital instrument cluster or the infotainment display. Maps are even tailored to the ZDX which means it will not only show you where to go to the charger but also how you should charge your battery to keep your charging stops as short and the overall travel time as minimal as it can be.

It also helps to prepare the battery to charge faster when a Fast charger in public is a waypoint or destination. In contrast to GM who is moving to full Google Integration, Acura is still compatible with Apple. It is both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that can be used on the 11.3-inch touchscreen and stream through an 18-speaker B&O Olufsen stereo.
Safety
Each ZDX includes AcuraWatch 360+, the “AcuraWatch” package of active and passive driver aids, which currently includes a system that will not allow you to shift lanes when you’ve got someone in your zone of blindspot. For the Type S, you can buy AcuraWatch 360+ which is Acura’s first hands-free cruise control that is named, appropriately, “Hands-Free Cruise.”
It can operate on 400 miles of roads which makes us believe that it’s an updated version of the GM Super Cruise. 360+ also comes with Automatic Parking Assist, which will help you park parallel to the road. If you have to carry several things then the 2024 Acura ZDX can tow 3500 pounds, in either trim. It is not clear if Hands-Free Cruise works while towing, as Super Cruise is on GM automobiles.

2024 Acura ZDX Price & Release Date
The ZDX A-Spec with rear drive “is expected to start in the $60,000 range,” Acura states. Pricing for the dual motor powertrain hasn’t yet been announced. It’s the ZDX Type S, meanwhile, “is expected to start in the $70,000 range.” While AcuraWatch is the standard model, AcuraWatch 360+ may be priced higher; however, the company hasn’t yet announced. Although you’ll still need to take possession of the 2024 Acura ZDX from an authorized dealer and then sign the paperwork there, you can order it at home or there on a website dedicated to the purchase. The reservations will be open in this year and the first cars will be released in early 2024.
