Toyota finally confirmed its plans to electrify its truck line-up and we suspect it will begin with the Tundra. Specialist EV companies such as Rivian and Tesla are helping the truck segment prepare for electrification at unprecedented speeds. According to the automaker, it plans to electrify its trucks. The Japanese automaker spoke for the first time about electrifying pickup trucks. It’s not clear which truck will get the ion shot first. However, it is expected that it will arrive sooner than expected. Toyota stated that 70 electric vehicles will be available worldwide by 2025. 15 of them will be battery-electric vehicles, while seven will have the “bZ” moniker, which stands for Beyond Zero. Models marked with an X will have a dual motor setup as well as an all-wheel drive system.
The bZ series doesn’t seem to include a pickup truck. This means that the automaker will focus on electrifying the new range, rather than creating a new pickup. Although we don’t know when the electric truck will arrive yet, it’s still quite a while away.

Toyota’s full-size pickup truck just entered its third generation. It shouldn’t be surprising that it comes with some electrification, beyond the hybrid powertrain options.
Toyota seems to be sticking with a smaller size route, like the electric Rivian R1T. This is a type of intermediate truck that’s larger than a mid-sized truck, but smaller than full-size trucks. The Pickup EV Toyota shared a concept image and compared it to a smaller SUV nearby. It appears large but not bulky. Although it could be nearly Tundra-sized, some styling elements on the truck are similar to the new Tundra. However, the EV’s bed and cabin are much firmer.
The Toyota Tacoma is also getting a new generation, and electrification will be a part iit’sfuture. Although it is not yet clear if the Taco will receive an all-electric or hybrid powertrain, it will be the first midsize truck in the US to have some form of electrification.
Rumors suggest that the Tundra will be sharing the platform with the Tacoma next-generation, so we may see a mix of two trucks specifically designed for the electric version. Toyota also stated that 15 new electric vehicles will be introduced by 2025, many of which could be featured at the same event as this EV Pickup. So electric pickup trucks might still be available by then. We don’t know when, but we do have the faintest hint that an electric Toyota truck will be coming.
Interior
Toyota designers have adopted a horizontal layout theme, integrating the center console and dashboard. The uncluttered, yet functional design of the center console is practical and retains physical controls for vital functions like volume adjustment and temperature control. The fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster is available in higher trims. However, the lower trim can be used for semi-analog instrument clusters with a 44.2-inch MID. Optional features include a 10-inch heads-up display.
The cabin also features a large, 14-inch Audio Multimedia touchscreen infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility and wireless Android Auto compatibility. A virtual assistant responds to Toyota’s Hey/Hi/Hello/OK wwake-upphrases and can save profiles. The new center screen is larger and offers better viewing angles for drivers because it is not too tilted. Instead, the lower trim has an 8-inch Audio Multimedia touchscreen infotainment screen.
2025 Toyota Tundra Interior
Tundra 2023 features key comfort features such as a panoramic roof, heated steering wheels, heated and ventilated seating, a rear sunshade, and a power sliding rear window. Large pickups can be easily parked with the 360-degree camera system. It has an A-pillar driver-side grip handle that is thicker than the second-generation Tundra. This will be appreciated by drivers when they are off-roading. Toyota has also installed an A-pillar grip handle for the passenger side, but this is not a new feature.
Toyota Tundra Off-Road
The EV pickup is geared towards off-road capabilities. EV trucks are a great option for off-roaders. They have a lower center of gravity and offer a lot of torque, making them very popular. Toyota almost certainly will take electric pickup trucks in this direction. The Toyota EV Pickup Truck comes with thick off-road tires. We’re certain that the white paint shouting “TRD Pro!” to fans is not an accident.
Toyota has announced that it will launch 15 battery-electric vehicles by 2025. Pickups will be at the forefront of this movement. We don’t know how far Toyota has come in electric powertrain development, but the exterior design looks almost production-ready–Toyota showed us a similar secret Tundra mockup months before its official debut.

The starting price for the 2025 Tundra is higher than that of its domestic counterparts. Toyota’s entry-level SR trim offers more desirable features such as a 379-hp twin turbo V-6 and coil spring rear suspension. The Ram 1500 also has a coil-spring rear suspension. What you will get is an SR5 with a TRD On-Road Package that includes an electronically locked rear differential, unique wheels, and additional suspension.
