Finally, the high-luxury 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre coupe was revealed. The platform for the Phantom sedan as well as Cullinan SUV is the same as that of the Spectre. The new model is entirely electric and uses two electric motors to generate 577 horsepower.
The Spectre’s range of travel is only about 260 miles per charge. This excludes it from long-range EVs like the Tesla Model Y or Lucid Motors Air. People who can afford a Spectre for $400,000 won’t be able to travel if their private plane is at the airport. Rolls-Royce’s Spectre is the first of a new line of electric vehicles. The firm claims that all gasoline-powered models will be replaced by EVs by 2030.
2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre Review
Rolls-Royce’s new architecture is used in the 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre. This platform is made entirely of aluminum and can be used to support both internal combustion engines as well as completely electric drivetrains. The Spectre was the first Rolls-Royce vehicle that uses electricity. However, it is still the basis for all current models (Ghost Phantom and Cullinan).
The front fascia features the Rolls-Royce grille, which has Art Deco influences. The light clusters are also very different. They have a horizontal LED daytime running perfectly straight lamp bar and a headlamp that is slightly recessed.
The 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre has bucket seats in both rows. It can accommodate four people thanks to this feature. Although there are parts that are exclusive to Spectre’s design, those who are familiar with Rolls-Royce’s interior design will find this one just as luxurious.
The Spectre’s doors have a similar glow, with small LED lights shining in the area around the armrests. This is in addition to the iconic starry-night headline. We don’t know all the details or have a list of options and features for the Spectre.
The 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre will feature a dual-motor electric powertrain capable of producing 577 horsepower as well as 664 pound-feet torque. Rolls-Royce claims that this coupe can travel from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds. While you may be tempted to laugh at this estimate and point out the Tesla Model S Ply that reached 60 mph in 2.1 seconds (which was a record for cruising speed), we remind you that Rolls-Royce is about cruising, not mind-bending acceleration.
Range, Battery Capacity, and Charging Time
Rolls-Royce did not disclose the dimensions of its Spectre battery. However, it estimates that a single charge will give a range of approximately 260 miles. We expect that the majority of Spectre owners will have a charging station installed at their homes, even though DC fast charging should be the norm.
Rolls-Royce has not revealed the powertrain layout for the Spectre. We suspect it is much bigger than the 105 kWh fitted to the BMW i7 to allow it to reach a 520-kilometer range despite the Spectre’s heavyweight. The Spectre is based on the same Architecture of the Luxury platform that the Phantom, Ghost, and Cullinan. It has a total output of 577 hp, and 900 Nm of torque. This allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 4.5 seconds. This is a fast car by any standard, but it’s not as quick as a Tesla Model S.
However, that’s not why you buy a Rolls-Royce. Rolls-Royce enjoys the “Magic Carpet” ride on their cars, which is what they set out to do with the Spectre. Planar suspension systems decouple the anti-roll bar to prevent roll-rock from uneven surfaces. However, if the system detects that the Spectre has been driven in corners, then the anti-roll bar is brought back.
Finally, the 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre is designed with the same familiar aesthetic as the brand’s ultra-luxury brand. Although the overall design is very similar to that of the Wraith, the Wraith’s lines are more dynamic due to its more aggressively-raked roofline and sloped front end. The fascia features separate main headlight clusters and thin LED daytime running lamps. The grille on the Spectre doesn’t cool the engine bay and only adds aerodynamic benefits to its front end. It also has 22 LEDs and is the largest grille that can be fitted to a Rolls-Royce.
A Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament is adapted to match the dynamic shape of the Spectre. The brand claims that she now leans forward more than ever before and it took them over 800 hours to model this position. The aerodynamic grille and 23-inch wheels, which are the largest in Rolls-Royce’s history, contribute to a low drag coefficient of 0.25.
The interior of the 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre feels as luxurious as you would imagine. Spectre’s new infotainment system has a new version, but it is not based on the BMW iDrive 8. A new display for the front passenger features both the Spectre logo and a design that mirrors the Starlight headliner. It now extends towards the doors. The 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre will begin deliveries in 2023. This means that customers have more than a year to wait before they receive their electric Rolls-Royce vehicles.
2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre Release Date and Price
The 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre model is new. Customers could be their first cars as soon as 2023. Rolls-Royce has not yet released pricing information for the Spectre. However, we expect to see many options and features typical of Rolls-Royce such as highly customized packages. Other publications indicate that the price will be around $400,000.
