After a long absence, the beautiful Maserati GranTurismo has returned after a long hiatus. The 2024 Maserati GranTurismo sports car is a high-performance vehicle that will be available to purchase in the coming year. The new model has a refined appearance but retains many of the extravagant and hedonistic features that were part of the original design. It now looks at luxury with a better understanding of the responsibilities it entails.
Maserati has stopped production of the GranTurismo grand touring. This long, low-slung coupe is known for its stunning looks and luxurious interiors. It also has V8 engines that can be traced back to Ferrari. It was able to attract buyers away from other sports coupes like the Porsche 911 because of its more relaxed driving experience.
2024 Maserati GranTurismo Review
Exterior
The new 2024 Maserati GranTurismo comes in three trim levels: Modena Trofeo and Folgore. Both the GranCabrio coupe and the coupe with the fixed roof will be available. The new model retains many of the same characteristics as its predecessor, such as the high hood, fastback proportions, and sinuous lines. The important portholes on the front fenders are still there, as well as the large Maserati trident on the wide grille.
The new GranTurismo model is more organic and sinuous than the older model. The fenders are curvier and have a deeper hollow at the bottom of the doorline. These features give the appearance of corded muscles. There are a few deep ridges on the hood that give the car the appearance of ripping even while it is parked. The rear wheels have a diameter of 21 inches while the front wheels are 20 inches.
Interior
According to news reports, the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo is modern and sporty in the interior. The latest Google-based system will be used in the new model. It was first shown on the Grecale.
The dashboard features a 12.3-inch touchscreen and an 8.8-inch display below the controls for temperature control. It is possible to integrate with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly. The head-up displays project information directly in the driver’s line of sight, including vehicle speed and instructions for using the navigation system. GranTurismo’s stereo system features an Italian audio tuner, Sonus Farber, and 19 speakers.
Safety
Although the GranTurismo is equipped with many driver-aid functions as standard, we expect that more cutting-edge technology will soon be available. Important safety features include adaptive cruise control, automatic brakes, lane-keeping aid, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-keeping assistance.
Engine
According to our knowledge, the twin-turbo V-6 motor from the MC20 sports car will be tuned for the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo. Modena trim will produce 483 horsepower while the Trofeo trim produces 542 horsepower. GranTurismo Trofeo will be heavier and produce 79 horsepower less than the MC20. It will likely take it a bit longer to reach 60 mph, so we expect that it will be slower. This engine was able to propel the MC20 from 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds during early testing.
Formula 1 racing has used the twin-combustion design. It is distinctive and loud. GranTurismo’s most powerful GranTurismo version is the all-electric Folgore. The model’s three electric motors produce 750 horsepower. GranTurismo gasoline-powered vehicles come standard with both an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
We will provide more information on the GranTurismo’s fuel economy closer to the car’s release date. We’ll also update this story as new information becomes available. After we receive a production model for testing, we will also run it through the 75-mph highway fuel efficiency test and report on our findings. Visit the EPA website for more information on GranTurismo’s fuel economy.
Infotainment & Connectivity
Maserati’s new infotainment system, a Google-based system that debuted on the Grecale, is now available as standard on the GranTurismo. The dashboard has a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a smaller 8.8-inch display that can be used to adjust the climate control settings. Both Apple CarPlay integration and Android Auto integration work wirelessly. The driver can see the head-up display to get instant information such as speed and navigation directions. Sonus Faber, an Italian audio tuner, created GranTurismo’s stereo system that includes up to 19 speakers.
Safety
GranTurismo comes with basic driver-assistance features. However, you can get more advanced features in an optional package for $8300. Visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety websites for more information on GranTurismo’s crash test results. These are key safety features:
- Automated emergency braking
- With lane-keeping assistance, lane departure warning is available
- Available adaptive control
Proof On The Road
This Maserati GranTurismo is a super-luxury sports coupe that has made no concessions to modernity. It became evident that the modern vehicle had retained its sporting characteristics as I drove it, the cold morning getting warmer under the bright Etruscan sun. The new turbo V6 is not as powerful as the 4.7-liter V8. It was the engine that drove the GT I drove more than a decade ago. However, the engine sounds a lot better in motion than it does in the cold courtyard.
Maserati is proud of this engine. It produces 550 horsepower and 479 pounds-feet torque in this top-level Trofeo trim car (483 HP and 443 lb.-ft in its base Modena edition). It can drive the all-wheel-drive rear-biased car to 62 mph in three and a quarter seconds. The engine also sounds downright mean, if not euphonious, as it approaches its 6,500 rpm limit. The long route I took included long tunnels and old stone walls. All of these echo the exhaust note in compelling ways.
The GT drive mode was quite relaxed, but the throttle pedal still responded to any angle I set with my left foot. You can switch the dial to Sport or Corsa, where all electronic aids have been turned off and the computer will say a prayer for your soul. The go pedal is now a joy to use on windy country roads.
The default transmission selection is made by centrally mounted buttons on your center console. I don’t like them and switching from a fully automatic Drive to a paddle-shifting Manual took me two attempts. It’s worth it to get the paddles in your hands. The long, easily-accessed paddles make it easy to shift between up and down quickly. Driver involvement soars as a consequence. The eight-speed auto was also very easy to use for in-town driving and on the few highways stretches I have seen.
Any Corner & Any Time
GranTurismo weighed in at around 4,000 pounds. I didn’t expect it to be agile. I was wrong, thanks to the GranTurismo’s ultra-rigid body structure and smart chassis tuning. Maserati was at ease hammering through tight roads and over any other strange surfacing. Although the car turns in and out like a rear-driven vehicle, the acceleration at the corner exit reveals the four-wheel propulsion.
This is even though all cars are equipped with winter-rated Pirelli tires. The grip of summer tires on hot days (we are still waiting to learn which brand and model will be the standard equipment on North American cars) is likely to be epic.
The mediocre steering feels only slightly affects the ability to change direction quickly and smoothly. The wheel is responsive and quick, and the perforated leather trims and the supercar-standard squircle shapes are a nice touch. However, the feedback from the tires is not shouted but whispered. McLaren, Porsche, and Aston Martin offer a more satisfying experience.
The GT Trofelo is a sports car, and I was impressed by the ride quality in the stirring sections. The GT Trofelo is light, agile, responsive, and ready to take on any challenge. These same qualities made speed cruising in straight lines more caffeinated than I had hoped or expected. However, even with the drive mode down and the suspension softened up the Maserati still feels a little brittle on the highway.
Pixels Small and Big
The screens are plentiful and reflect the high resolution and logical layout I have come to expect from Stellantis products. A 12.2-inch digital dashboard is in front of the driver. It can be set up to highlight audio controls and navigation commands. After all, I was driving in Italy.
You’ll find a 12.3-inch main screen on the middle stack, and a position for a comfort display of 8.8 inches below. I learned my typical benchmarks in just a few minutes. These included streaming and changing volume, as well as adjusting climate controls. It’s also possible to use standard wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Maseati’s digital clock can also be used in cars. It can have multiple faces and other information. This one is a bit painful for me as a fan of old clocks and mechanical watches. However, I did manage to capture a short video in the GranTurismo Fogore, which you can read more about on InsideEVs.
Would You Like to Be a 911 Owner?
Two-door, a four-place coupe that packs a lot of power and looks great… If you’re playing Jeopardy! The answer is “What is the Porsche 911 Alex?” As with many sports cars, the GranTurismo will need to compete against Porsche to sell outside the Maserati faithful. Would you?
GranTurismo Modena is a slightly less powerful model than the 911 Turbo, but it still has a lot of bells and whistles. It costs $174,000. The same base Turbo is faster and more powerful than the $205K GranTurismo Trofeo. Although I haven’t had the opportunity to explore the 911 range or live with a GranTurismo every day, it is safe to say that the Porsche will be more enjoyable than the Maserati.
Flipping the coin puts you in a unique club. This elegant GranTurismo will undoubtedly stand out from the Porsches in Los Angeles, Miami, and London. Because it’s not as sanitized or frustratingly unflappable, it feels more special.
If you’re spending a lot, you could do a similar analysis for cars such as the Bentley Continental, Audi R8, and even the Aston Martin DB11 There are tradeoffs between price, performance, and practicality. Only the Aston has the same brand appeal as the lovely Italian. It’s not easy to choose, but you can’t go wrong with any of these wonderful options.
The GranTurismo’s trunk was equipped with the following standard features: It is an exceptional car, no matter where you live. A special machine with real character, it is a great vehicle, but not as good as the back roads of Italy.
2024 Maserati GranTurismo Price and Release Date
The basic Modena version of the new racer, the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo will start at $190,000. The Trofeo will start at $220,000 while the Folgore will cost around $250,000. All models are expected to make their debut in stores by autumn 2023.
