Finally, the new Ford Escape 2024 has been spotted in testing. Ford’s compact SUV will undergo many styling changes. The new SUV has a squarer grille, sharper headlights and an LED strip. The fourth-generation model, however, has not proven itself with only 178,000 units sold by 2020.
Ford is working on a facelift and the prototype for the new crossover was spotted in Kentucky, near the production facility. Here’s what we know so far about the new SUV.
2024 Ford Escape Redesign
The 2024 Ford Escape is the clear winner in this category, with its distinctive design. The design of the SUV is largely determined by the trim level. The SE Sport Appearance package, for example, takes this SUV up a notch with black-finished alloy wheels and various exterior paints in black.
It is available in a Stealth AWD version that does the same as the Sport Appearance Package, but with a few extra features. Escape is available in a variety of colors, including three metallic shades: Atlas, Iced and Stone.
Interior
The new model will have the same comfortable seating as the previous one. The Honda CR-V has the same maximum rear legroom of 40.7 inches. The luggage space behind the vehicle measures 33.5 cubic foot and can be expanded to 65.4 cubic foot. If you choose a plug-in or hybrid vehicle, these figures drop to 30/70.8 cubic feet.
The manufacturer offers a large touchscreen infotainment system as standard, along with keyless entry/starting, USB-A/USB-C ports and satellite radio. It also integrates Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone, voice recognition enhancement, and voice-controlled GPS.
Engine
According to the information we received, the 2024 Ford Escape facelift will continue to offer gasoline, hybrid and plug-in versions. We can expect to see the same turbocharged 1,5-liter engine that produces 180 horsepower and torque of 190 lb.-ft. This model uses an automatic 8-speed transmission that sends output to the front axles in standard form. All-wheel drive, however, is available.
The SEL is equipped with the same 8-speed automatic transmission and the second turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder motor that produces 250 horsepower. This engine comes standard with all-wheel drive. There is also a plug-in hybrid and an on-offer (HEV). Both models are powered by a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine with a naturally aspirated combustion. The electric motor gives the engines a combined 200 horsepower. Ford claims the PHEV can travel 37 miles when in EV mode.
