Rumors abound that Audi will be busy in the next few years with redesigns, refreshes, and new vehicles. The 2024 Audi Q9 is one such vehicle. We don’t know much about this vehicle, but we can look at what we do.
The 2024 Q9 is designed for both Chinese and American markets. The Q9 SUV will be larger than the Q7 SUV. It will feature three rows of passenger seats, which will help strengthen the brand’s position in the ever-growing SUV segment.
Audi is believed to be giving the Q9 a gasoline engine, and it could be the brand’s last ICE-powered vehicle. It is unknown what type of engine the Q9 crossover will get, but it is possible that it could be the same turbocharged 4-cylinder 2.0-liter engine that powers the Q7.
2024 Audi Q9 Redesign
All sources point to the same scenario for Q9’s development, as we have just stated. Ingolstadt announced plans to produce a second generation of its models using internal-combustion engines. This would mean that the MLB platform will continue to be used for many more years. The 2024 Audi Q9 will ride on the same platform, but with different upgrades and updates.
The Q7 is quite capable of handling a more refined suspension system, but this could be one of the upgrades. Thanks to its standard air suspension, the mid-size SUV has a composed handling and smooth ride. We expect many updates to the platform that will bring advanced driver-assistance features and upgraded hybrid powertrains.
Exterior
The 2024 Audi Q9’s exterior design is the most striking thing about it. The 2024 Audi Q9 will be the largest Audi model, and it will have a significantly longer wheelbase than its mid-sized sibling. The new full-size SUV will have a wheelbase of around 122 inches. Other measurements would be very similar to those found in class rivals.
We expect a standard SUV shape with a wagon-like body and good ground clearance. We may also see adaptive dampers, which could help increase ground clearance when necessary. We don’t think we will see a super-rugged offroad version.
We expect the 2024 Audi Q9 will be a new design language in terms of aesthetics. We expect that the e-Tron electric car family will provide a lot of inspiration.
Interior
Expectations are high because we are talking about the future flagship SUV. We expect nothing less from the 2024 Audi Q9. The Ingolstadt firm is known for its well-built interiors. We expect even higher standards.
Audi’s interior design style is characterized by excellent materials and conservative aesthetics. The interior design is meticulous and includes a wide range of high-tech features. There could be a lot in common with the Audi A8 sedan which is currently the most luxurious model in the company’s range.
The 2024 Audi Q9 will have three rows of seats. We expect to find a more comfortable third row due to the longer wheelbase. This is in contrast to the Q7’s mid-size cabin, which feels quite tight. We also expect to see more cargo space.
Engine
The 2024 Audi Q9 will use internal combustion engines, as we have already stated. The plug-in hybrid version of the Audi Q9 is also expected, while gasoline versions may benefit from mild-hybrid technology.
Base models will likely come with a 3.0-liter V6 motor, which currently produces 335 horsepower. V8 engines are also possible. There are currently two versions of this engine in Audi’s models. The SQ9 would have around 500 horsepower, while RS Q9 would have a 591-hp engine. Sources suggest that this engine could be even more powerful, with 640 horsepower. This engine powers Cayenne Turbo GT.
We expect hybrid versions, naturally. Two plug-in hybrids are available for the Q7 current. They are both powered by a V6 engine with 376 horsepower and 450 horsepower. A V8-powered system could be found in the Porsche Cayenne with a massive 690 horsepower maximum output. All models will come standard with an 8-speed auto transmission.
Specs
According to media reports and other automotive news sites, it seems likely that the new Audi Q9 is built on the same platform as the Q5, Q7, and Q8. This platform could be either the MLB Evo or Audi’s new PPC Platform. Although the Audi Q9 has yet to be confirmed, the Q9 will likely feature a 3.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and a plug-in hybrid. The company may target an electric range of more than 40 miles per charge.
The new Q9 will be competing with the BMW X7, and Mercedes Benz CLS. The company may attempt to make the new Q9 more powerful or equal to the BMW x7 as well as the Mercedes Benz CLS. You can imagine how powerful the new Q9 will be.
2024 Audi Q9 Price & Release Date
Audi currently plans to release the Q9 in 2025. However, this timeline can always change. Although the crossover was designed in Germany, some U.S. dealers were told that it would be available in the U.S. markets at some point. However, the automaker has not yet stated any concrete details.
The price range for the Q9 is unknown. It’s expected to be larger than the Q7 so it will likely be more expensive. The Q7’s starting MSRP is $59,395. The Q9 will likely start at the mid-to-high $60,000 mark.
The Q9 is a luxury crossover that has three rows and will compete against the Jeep Wagoneer (Acura MDX), Volvo XC90 (VOLVO XC90), and Mercedes-Benz GLS–Class. Keep checking back for updates as the release date nears and more information becomes available.
