2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Review
The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT is instantly recognizable, even though every part that makes up the car has been revised. The face with the abrasive design has a Panamericana grille that has a glossy black extension beneath that is reminiscent of the extinct Black Series. The headlights feature softer curves and the slim taillights have been joined by an aluminum trim piece under an active spoiler on the rear. The model is mounted on 20-inch wheels and is also available with 21-inch alloys.
The prominent rear shoulders appear more spacious, triggering an impression of 911, while the proportions are more even as compared to before. This is because the brand-new AMG GT is 182 mm (7.2 inches) larger, measuring 4,728 millimeters (186.1 inches), and has a wheelbase of 2,700 millimeters (106.3 inches) that is stretched by 70 millimeters (2.8 inches). The latest model is 45 millimeters (1.8 inches) bigger and 66 mm (2.5 inches) higher than the predecessor.
Despite the traditional looks and dimensions, The AMG GT is based on the latest design that is made up of steel, aluminum, magnesium, and other fiber carbon composites (glass as well as carbon) which gives space for the 2+2 layout and a bigger boot.
Interior
The interior features the dashboard that features the 12.3-inch electronic instrument cluster as well as the 11.9-inch infotainment display is transferred in the SL. Additionally, the AMG Performance steering wheel as well as bucket seats that have integrated headrests that are ventilated provide a luxurious and sporty ambience. The rear space appears somewhat cramped like in many 2+2 options as the rear seats are designed for children or people who are up to 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) tall. The cargo capacity ranges from 321 Lt (11.3 cubic feet) to 675 Lt (23.8 cubic feet) which makes it ideal for long-distance trips.
Engine
The Biturbo 4.0-liter V8 engine was redesigned to offer increased power and more torque, while it is compliant with Euro 7 emission regulations. The model will be offered with two versions powered by V8. The entry-level 55 produces 469 horsepower (350 kW/ 476 PS) with 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque, allowing acceleration of 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) with matching SL 3.9 seconds, and the top speed is 295 km/h (183 mph). The more powerful GT 63 makes 577 hp (430 585 PS / 430 kW) along with 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque.
It accelerates from 100km/h (0-62 miles per hour) in 3.2 seconds and achieves a top speed of 315 km/h (195.7 mph). It’s not known what the future holds for this model, but AMG will launch a lower 43 model equipped with the turbo four as in the SL however, judging by our spy images a more robust plug-in hybrid GT E Performance should be taken into consideration as a possibility.
The GT is equipped with a 9-speed AMG Speedshift automatic that is installed behind the engine and has a wet-starting clutch in place of the torque converter. In contrast to its predecessor with rear-wheel drive, the GT is now available with the fully adjustable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system. The standard kit also includes tech goodies like the AMG Active Ride Control suspension with active roll stabilization, an electronically-controlled rear-locking differential, active rear-axle steering, and active aerodynamics.
