2024 Kia Sorento: Will There Be a New Sorento? The premiere of the current generation of the Kia Sorento took place all over the world in the early part of the year 2020, and it was not until September of that year that it was exhibited to the public in North America.
It was first offered for sale in the United States for the 2022 model year, and although though it is still relatively new on the market, it is going to be updated in the very near future. The refresh will roll out first to markets outside of North America, and we now have our hands on the first spy photographs, which were taken on European land.
What you see in the image below is a collection of spy photographs taken using a prototype that has been disguised as the 2024 Sorento, which we anticipate will make its debut in the United States in the year 2024.
This test car is definitely disguised with a number of phony body parts and a significant amount of fabric, but we are certain that it is the South Korean SUV. We don’t know all that’s been changed that the camouflage is concealing, but there are signs that the front end has been extensively redesigned.
The world was introduced to the fourth generation of the Kia Sorento in the early year 2020. It had an appearance that was modern enough to survive for ten years, but since then, Kia’s design language has progressed quite a little. Even while the rest of the brand’s portfolio seems to be more streamlined and seductive than ever before, the Sorento has been left behind somewhat.
To be fair, the Sorento is still an excellent choice for a family car, and it doesn’t have an unattractive profile from any aspect. In addition to that, it is not antiquated. The automaker is currently working on a facelift for the three-row midsize crossover that will be released in 2024. It appears that the 2024 model may borrow some styling elements from its larger sibling, the Telluride. However, this is being done to ensure that the popularity of the Sorento continues.
In recent years, Kia has done an outstanding job of disguising its new arrivals by covering whole prototypes in loose-fitting camouflage with just the bare minimum in cooling and lighting apertures. This has allowed Kia to maintain a high level of secrecy about its new products.
However, these initial spy shots captured by our crafty photographers seem to indicate that the headlights will be changing from their current horizontal orientation and will instead look like scaled-down replicas of the Telluride’s headlights.
Additionally, it is possible that the existing Sorento’s LED running night will move to the top of the headlight unit on each side of the vehicle. As we go below, it seems like the central lower intake may be flanked on each side by additional inlets, maybe to send air to the brakes. This would be an interesting development.
2024 Kia Sorento Refresh Looks Radically Different in Fresh Rendering
As a result of the fact that manufacturers are required to simultaneously create and sell conventional automobiles and electric vehicles (EVs), many of them have discovered that it is preferable to make them seem comparable. In the past, we had electric vehicles that had a traditional appearance, such as the Volkswagen e-Golf.
But today, crossovers with combustion engines are starting to resemble electric vehicles, and the 2024 Kia Sorento may be a wonderful illustration of how this is happening.
Over the course of the previous several years, Kia has undergone a fairly significant makeover. From a manufacturer renowned for producing dull small cars like the Forte and Soul, it has transitioned into the production of SUVs that cannot be purchased without paying exorbitant markups from the dealer. If I had to use one word to describe it, I’d say the Sorento is really nice.
This Korean model is quite popular among purchasers of mid-sized SUVs who are looking for a cheap option that offers three rows of seating. We are now on the 4th generation, and due to the fact that it went into production in 2020, a mid-life update is just around the horizon for it.
Now, we’ve previously shown you a depiction of the update, so go check that out. A prototype of the 2024 Kia Sorento was sighted approximately a week ago, and as a result, we have a new set of digital photographs that indicate considerably more significant revisions.
Kia has a long-standing custom of using thick, double-layered camouflage, with a dark tarp covering all the exciting new features to conceal them. However, it was clear to everyone that the 2024 Sorento will be receiving updated headlights. In addition, with the use of that data, the website Kolesa was able to produce these images, which demonstrate innovative new LEDs.
They claim that the headlights of the new Sorento will feature a design that is considerably more rectangular and will have the appearance of 3D geometric shapes that have been squared off at the corners. It would seem that this highly unique shape is connected to the production Kia EV9 vehicle in order to develop a new design language for the Korean automobile manufacturer.
At the moment, the grille and headlights of the Sorento come together to create a single continuous element, much as BMWs did a few decades ago. The Tiger Nose, on the other hand, is being updated to a more daring design, which lends this family crossover a look that is more athletic and evocative of the Seltos.
An LED band that runs over the trunk and connects four different sections of the taillights is one of the changes that we have implemented in the vehicle’s rear end, which we have previously discussed. It is obvious that Kia will make a few more minor adjustments to the bumpers.
Kia prioritizes price and practicality, but it is also working to provide environmentally conscious engine options throughout its entire lineup.
There are now four different configurations of the Sorento that may be purchased in the United States. The most popular engine is the 2.5-liter four-cylinder with the basic model, which produces 191 horsepower. There is also a turbocharged variant that has 281 horsepower, and given that they are fresh new engines, it is quite doubtful that they will undergo any changes.
There are also two hybrid options, both of which are based on the 1.6-liter turbo engine. The first is a conventional hybrid that has 227 horsepower, while the second is a plug-in hybrid that has 261 horsepower.
2024 Kia Sorento: What to Expect from a Facelift?
Early in the year 2020, the car manufacturer debuted the current model of the Kia Sorento, which is the fourth generation overall. Updates are currently being developed by the firm.
Although this model is among the TOP 10 U.S. bestsellers of the brand together with the Sportage and Telluride SUVs, and, generally speaking, it is a wonderful family car, it wouldn’t hurt appearing fresher and more up to date. This is completely deserved.
After taking the first images of the future 2024 Kia Sorento, ubiquitous spy photographers came to the conclusion that the Kia Telluride might be seen as an influence on the design of the vehicle.
A prototype of the Sorento that was sighted not so long ago has headlights that seem to be scaled-down versions of the Telluride’s headlamps. So, you may anticipate that the “little brother,” the Sorrento, will share some of the outward design aspects of its “bigger brother,” the larger Kia. Therefore, the new model ought to arrive with updated fascias on both the front and the back.
New upholstery selections, the most up-to-date information and entertainment system, and a redesigned steering wheel are expected to be included in the interior refresh. In addition, Kia has the capability of modernizing the current portfolio of engines in order to enhance fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
To refresh your memory, the Kia Sorrento can be purchased with a number of different engines, including the following: a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder base engine that generates 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque; a 2.5-liter Turbo engine that generates 282 horsepower and 311 pound-feet; and two hybrid versions. Both an 8-speed automatic and an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission are available as options.
What We Think of the Model
It is a dependable, cost-effective family car and a cozy commuting vehicle that provides a fair list of standard equipment, quick steering, a stylish interior with an easy-to-use information and entertainment system, and fuel-efficient engines.
The EPA estimates that the basic model of the Sorento gets 24 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the interstate. The Kia Sorento’s inadequate storage capacity and mediocre passenger space in the third row are its primary shortcomings in comparison to its major competitors.
In addition, its score of anticipated dependability is medium. There are instances when the acceleration may not seem very strong, and the ride could get a bit rough due to the uneven pavement. When it comes down to it, the Sorento is not an off-road vehicle.
