Speculation is running rampant about the updated 2025 Toyota Camry. We know we’re getting a new 2025 Camry that will likely aim to dethrone the Tesla Model Y as the world’s best-selling car. Some new spy images are intriguing and point to a styling direction, one inspired by the new Toyota Crown. The competition has closed in on the Camry, and a new one will have to be even better.
2025 Toyota Camry Review
We know that Toyota’s engineers are working on an all-new 2025 Camry. We expect the new car to debut sometime next spring. Any updates to the Camry are big news as it’s Toyota’s top-selling car and one of the best-selling cars in the world. But, the current car has been on sale since 2017 and it’s starting to look dated compared to its competitors.
When it comes to the Camry’s competition, the Honda Accord, and Kia K5 both saw recent updates. The Subaru Legacy and Hyundai Sonata are both expected to get updates soon, too. All of these cars are now hyper-capable sedans that carry five adults in near-luxury comfort while seeing stellar gas mileage numbers.
The Honda Accord, the Camry’s chief rival, saw a complete redesign for the 2023 model year. It’s not a perfect redesign, but the Accord has continued to build on its decades-long reputation. The new car leans heavily on hybrid power, with four of the five trims coming only in hybrid trim. Only the base EX version has a gasoline engine.
The new Accord Hybrid trims come with a 204-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder. That’s enough for the Accord to keep up with traffic, and get some incredible gas mileage figures of 51 in the city and 48 on the highway. Inside, the new interior looks much more modern and sporty with an optional 12.3-inch touchscreen setting off the dash. Look for the new Camry to match, or beat, many of the Accord’s features and options.
New Design
New spy photos of a heavily-camouflaged successor suggest that there will be a new Camry soon. The 2025 Toyota Camry will be released sometime next year. Based on the spy shots, we can tell that it’s going to be a radical departure. The big grille on the current Camry and its sharp edges have helped to dispel the notion that the Camry is a simple point A to B vehicle. But now, the design is commonplace due to the sheer volume of Camrys in the streets. According to our spy photos, the new Camry is going for a fresh look that emphasizes its fastback profile. The front pillars’ angle and the rear overhang look similar to that of the current model. This could fuel speculation that Toyota is planning a major refresh instead of an entirely new car.
The new Camry will look so different from the current model that it is unlikely that they will even resemble each other. The styling will be inspired by Toyota’s current Crown, a funky lifted sedan that replaced the Avalon. This means a large, angular front end with slim LED headlights. A full-width LED bar could be installed on the trunk.
The interior changes will be just as important as the exterior. Toyota’s latest infotainment system will be included, as well as a larger central display. New materials, a new dashboard, and new steering will make the whole car look brand new. The interior of the Camry will be completely redesigned. We can expect to see elements from the Crown’s design.
Engine
The Crown is a good place to look for clues about what upgrades the Camry might receive. Even the smaller Corolla offers a hybrid AWD model. The base 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which produces 203 horsepower, may be retained for lower trims, but the Highlander’s turbocharged, 2.4-liter, inline-4 with 265 horsepower could replace it.
Models
Toyota’s latest software for infotainment will come standard in the Camry. The screen size of the Camry will also increase. It currently has a 7.0-inch screen on lower trims and a 9.0-inch screen as an option. Newer Toyota models have a 12.3-inch screen. We think that the Camry too will get that set-up.
Expect to see the familiar LE trims, SE, XSE, and XLE, as well as Nightshade packages, and a TRD performance version. The base price is expected to rise from the current $27,415 model. The exact date of the new Camry is not yet known, but it’s likely to debut late in 2023 and go on sale in 2024.
2025 Toyota Camry Price & Release Date
The price is not yet known, but it has long been a popular choice for buyers looking for something reliable, affordable, and spacious. We wouldn’t be shocked if the price of the new Camry was a little higher. The current Camry is priced at $27 415. It’s safe to say that the base model will not be exceeding $30,000 in price. We expect the Camry Hybrid to start just above $30,000. Toyota will release more information on the Camry as 2024 approaches.
