The 2024 Subaru Outback Hybrid could be the first. Given the number of hybrids available in the compact crossover segment, it would not surprise that this is the first one. We will see how this system works with the Boxer engine.
This is only the beginning of the journey to complete electrification. The big plan is that every Subaru vehicle will have an all-electric drivetrain by 2030. Although it is possible, the carmaker is only at the beginning of a long journey. Take a look at General Motors’ latest news. General Motors, the US’s largest carmaker, has never made a hybrid SUV or crossover. Now they are making EVs to take on Tesla and other competitors.
2024 Subaru Outback Hybrid Review
Technology for Driver Assistance Technology
The Outback has upgraded standard EyeSight Driver Assist Technology 2024. EyeSight monitors traffic and optimizes cruise control. It also alerts you when you drift outside of your lanes. In emergencies, the Pre-Collision Braking system can apply full braking force to stop you completely.
Automatic Emergency Steering is a new feature in the 2024 Outback. It can help you avoid collisions. If it detects enough space, it will provide pre-collision brake support and automatic steering. Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control (Lane Centering) can reduce stress while driving by assisting in steering, braking, and throttle control – both on daily traffic and long trips.
All 2024 Outback models receive Subaru’s EyeSight driver assistance technology version. The software has been updated and the field of view is larger. Blind-spot detection systems are equipped with automatic emergency steering. This works in conjunction with the pre-collision brake feature to avoid collisions at speeds below 50 miles per hour (80 km/h). Additionally, the highest trim of touring gets a mono camera with wide angle and dual EyeSight cameras. This technology allows the vehicle to detect pedestrians and bikes faster at intersections.
Interior
Outback 2024 includes the SUBARU STARLINK multimedia system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto wireless integration, and SUBARU STARLINK Multimedia. Now it’s easier to control music, navigation, podcasts, and other content without having to plug in your smartphone.
To improve comfort and ease of use, each passenger has the option to receive updates and improvements. The 12-way front power driver’s seat has a 4-way lumbar power adjustment. Redesigned cargo bags are now available on the front seats, which offer greater organization options. For future device compatibility, both the front and rear seats now offer USB-C charging ports.
For extra illumination when you are inland, the rear gate has LED lights integrated at the back. A new Smart Rear-View Mirror is now available with automatic dimming, compasses, and HomeLink to provide a wide-angle view behind the object.
Features
The 2024 Outback gets a standard power sunroof, new window molding, and black 18-inch alloy tires. The Wilderness model comes standard with a removable cargo tray. The Limited model has a 12-way power driver’s seat with memory, and two-position memory to replace 10 ways. Heated steering wheels are available in 360-degree heating, and not just a portion.
The Touring trim was given a new Nappa leather in black with contrast brown stitching. A digital rearview mirror was added to his vehicle with automatic dimming, as well as a compass.
Specifications & Gas Mileage
If you’re looking for a regular model, a 2.5-liter flat-four engine will be your best choice. You also get the all-wheel drive and the CVT gearbox. Because of their opposite positions, Subaru’s flat-four engine is called a Boxer. This configuration is fuel-friendly with a combined 30 mpg (remember – AWD comes standard). The company is working to make the system even more efficient. Electric batteries are a great option, especially when used in conjunction with the base engine. The 2024 Subaru Outback Hybrid will likely produce 200 horsepower and match city fuel economy with highway return of around 34 mpg.
An alternative option is electrifying a turbocharged Boxer. This is unlikely as the performance setup is the 2.4-l turbo-four. The priority is the gas mileage. Outback XT has a maximum power output of 260 hp. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 6 seconds. The configuration doesn’t require an electric boost, which can cause performance to suffer. A PHEV system, on the other hand, is possible to increase all numbers in the specifications sheet. Subaru can follow in the Toyota Rav4’s footsteps, which can produce 302 horsepower and return 38 mpg.
Subaru will produce all-electric, all-wheel-drive Subaru models in America and other global markets. Tomomi Nakamura, Subaru CEO, stated that they are still deciding on the type of EVs to produce and didn’t provide a production number. Automotive News reports that Nakamura stated that they would start small and expand as needed.
Subaru has announced that it will start introducing next-generation hybrid cars by 2025. These vehicles will feature gasoline-electric powertrains by Toyota. This is similar to the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid. By 2025, hybrid SUVs will be available from Subaru Forester, Subaru Outback, or Ascent.
Subaru could call the new hybrids “boxers”, similar to Australia and Japan. Subaru announced it would invest $2.05B in new hybrids, and electric vehicles over the next five years. Customers in the United States will have more all-wheel-drive, all-electric Subaru Solterra Evo compact SUVs. These models will be made available by 2027. Would you like to purchase a Subaru Outback Electric E-V model in 2024? Subaru of America would love to hear your opinion.
New Engine
Subaru’s new Forester comes with a 1.8-liter engine. Subaru fans are hopeful that this engine will soon be available in other countries. It produces 175 horsepower and 220 lb of torque. The power output is comparable to the US model but the torque gets an important boost.
Experts believe that the new 1.8-liter engine will be the heart of the 2024 Subaru Outback Hybrid. It’s possible. A 2.5-l MHEV can be used to create a Forester hybrid. The Outback is more powerful and therefore has a larger vehicle. Before purchasing a vehicle, potential buyers should confirm its fuel consumption.
Facelift Mid-Cycle
Based on the Legacy sports sedan, the Outback crossover was created. This vehicle has been in production for over 35 years and has seen seven generations. The next version could be released soon. In 2020, the latest version was published. It is possible to find a new version within this segment after just four years. Subaru will not do the same with the Outback. The crossover will get its first facelift with a new hybrid drivetrain.
The standard package will now be replaced with the 2024 Subaru Outback Hybrid. Higher trim levels offer more advanced features. All models will be redesigned, including the bumpers, headlights, and hood. The interiors will be updated, but the exterior won’t change. There are nine trim options available. You also have the option of a hybrid engine. All packages come with XT Turbo and standard 2.5 drivetrains. Many people are interested in learning more about the Wilderness trim and combination drivetrain setup. This is unlikely to be true.
This market is growing fast. Subaru is not among the market leaders so the Outback Hybrid still has some work ahead. Subbie is not among the best-performing models in this market. It can achieve 40 mpg. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the most efficient, but you must be present.
2024 Subaru Outback Hybrid Price & Release Date
The base Outback starts at $28,500 and the XT at $35,000. The Subaru Outback Hybrid 2024 will debut here. Although the debut date has not been confirmed, insiders claim that work on the hybrid is well underway. The first quarter of 2023 will see sales. The redesign will impact the release date and the number of changes that it brings.
