The BMW 2024 BMW 8 Series, a coupe and convertible car, was unveiled for the first time in 1990. It was equipped with rear-wheel drive and an all-wheel-drive drivetrain. After 1999, it was discontinued due to declining sales. BMW has once again reacted with a new BMW 8 Series for the 2019 Model Year as the second generation.
It is now continuing to be a major player in the Automobile Market. The BMW 8 Series, which will be available in the 2023 model year, is part of the second generation that was introduced in 2018. However, BMW had to update it last year with new interior exterior design features such as an updated infotainment system and new wheels designs.
2024 BMW 8 Series Review
It has the same exterior design and interior as the previous model, with the same engine powertrain features and features. BMW has not yet provided any information about the 2024 BMW 8 Series. It may have a new design or not.
This article will cover everything you need to know about the BMW 8 Series. We will be able to tell you everything in this article. We will find out when it will be made available, what the price will be if it will be redesigned, and much more.
We already know that BMW has updated it for the model year 2023. It has received a new exterior and interior designs. BMW has yet to release any official information about the redesign of the next BMW 8 Series for the model year 2024. We expect that BMW will continue to use it, but with minor modifications in its interior features.
GranCoupe Will Be The Next 8 Series
According to bmwblog.com the next-generation 8 Series (G77), will go into production in 2026. It will still be built on BMW’s CLAR rear-wheel-drive platform which can handle any type of powertrain. It could not launch in pure electric form like the current generation and it would only be available as a GranCoupe.
It’s not surprising that this news is coming as there have been rumors of changes to the 8 Series. Convertibles and coupes are becoming less profitable due to rising production and development costs. This is why the Gran Coupe, the 8 Series best-selling model, will be kept in the BMW lineup.
The Next 8 Series Will Be An All-Electric Car
However, the most exciting news is that the 8 Series will launch as an all-electric vehicle. These rumors are not surprising because BMW is expected to make a high margin with its high-displacement, high-horsepower 8 Series models.
The M850i, with its 530 horses (390kW), and the M8 with 625 horses (625kW) are both remarkable in terms of driving dynamics and weight. They are therefore among the most desirable BMW sports cars. It will be interesting to see if a completely electric 8 Series can bring this passion into the future.
Coupe and Cabrio Likely To Stay On As The 6 Series
The future is now for the Coupe and Cabrio of the 8 Series. They will likely be replaced by the new 6 Series, which is expected to include the 4 Series Coupe as well as the Cabrio.
The 8 Series GranCoupe will be a pure electric tourer and close the gap between the 7 Series and the 5 Series. It measures in at 5.20 meters and would make a great competitor to the Mercedes EQS. This all-electric version is also available in an AMG version. We can already see a future duel between the two sports cars with four doors.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
The M850i is more powerful and features a twin-turbo V-8. It also has standard all-wheel drive. This means a substantial reduction in EPA fuel economy ratings compared to the turbo six-cylinder which powers 840i models.
The M850i can achieve 17 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway. The 840i, which is less powerful, can attain up to 23 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway. The M850i convertible and coupe were tested on our 75-mph fuel economy route, where they earned 29 and 26 mpg. Both body styles achieved EPA ratings above, but the coupe got 4 mpg while the convertible only managed 1 mpg. Visit the EPA website for more information on the 8-series fuel economy.
Interior, Comfort, & Cargo
The interior of the 2023 8-series Grand Tourer has all the luxury features and infotainment technology expected from a grand tourer. Each model comes with 14-way power-adjustable heated front chairs, soft-close auto doors, and customizable ambient lighting. More extravagant upgrades include glass control or other high-end materials. You can also customize it with BMW Individual options such as a white-and-brown color scheme.
It does have a pair of vestigial rear seats but they are not a pleasant place for adults to spend their time. Low rooflines on the 8 also make it difficult to have headroom in front. Outward visibility is also limited, but that’s fashion.
The interior cubby storage includes a covered tray at the center console, a central bin, and sufficient door pockets. The coupe also accommodated five carry-on bags, while the convertible had six.
Connectivity and Infotainment
Every 8-series comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. The instrument panel is too cluttered and difficult to use with the steering wheel controls. There are many ways to interact with the infotainment system, including a useful knob at the center console.
The system also has standard Apple CarPlay capabilities, wireless charging, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Android Auto is not supported. For those who prefer a more sophisticated sound system, the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system is available.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
The 2023 8 series offers a variety of driver-assistance technologies, including semi-autonomous driving modes. Visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for more information on the crash-test results for the 8-series. The following safety features are key:
- Automated emergency braking and standard forward-collision warning
- Available adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology
- Available lane departure warning and lane-keeping assistance
2024 BMW 8 Series Release Date
We hope that BMW will continue to use it in the 2024 model year. If BMW does indeed carry it over for the 2024 year model year, it should be ready for purchase in summer 2023 for the model year 2024. It could, however, be made available for purchase at the end of 2023 if BMW decides to refresh it.
