The fourth-generation Honda Pilot was redesigned for the 2023 model year. It is now the largest SUV product from Honda. The Pilot is a popular choice for Honda loyalists and growing families because it offers three rows of seating as well as a spacious interior. We don’t anticipate any major changes to the Honda Pilot 2024, given the recent overhaul.
2024 Honda Pilot CUV Review
Honda has made significant improvements to the Pilot’s design, making it more SUV-friendly and boxier. The SUV also features more interior space. The 3.5-liter V6 engine is now able to produce 285 horsepower and 262 pounds of torque. Honda also replaced the 10-speed manual with a nine-speed auto. The Pilot, like its smaller Passport sibling, has a TrailSport trim. This trim is better suited for off-road use. The TrailSport is a 2023 addition that brings a 1.1-inch higher ride height, thicker skid plates, and unique tuning to the all-wheel drive system.
The new Pilot will be competing against the Hyundai Palisade, and Kia Telluride, two of our favorite midsize three-row SUVs. Although the Honda’s interior isn’t as elegant as other models, it has a more practical design that could appeal to many families.
The Japanese automaker has a wide range of mid-size offerings. It caters to both four-door-loving customers (traditional, four-door) with the 11th generation of its iconic Accord, as well as crossover SUV-loving buyers with the three-row 2023 Honda Pilot CUV. What’s next for the large mid-size crossover SUV?
Engine
The auto information channel on YouTube has a lot of fun with the CGI images of the unannounced full-EV Honda Pilot CUV. The fourth-generation Pilot is equipped with a large engine to support the three-row adventure (now also available in TrailSport). We have a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces no less than 285 horsepower.
Specs
Honda also spoke about its upcoming EV plans, but the Japanese automaker may need to support the Pilot’s sales until the Ultrium platform is available in other models than the new Prologue. The channel’s resident pixel master has already imagined the unofficial look of a plug-in hybrid or full-electric Honda Pilot for the 2024 and 2025 model years.
The changes to the ICE version are more subtle than the ICE version. This is evident at the end of the informal CGI presentation. Fortunately, we have some nice color options for the sustainable Pilot in the now-unofficial shade reel. How does a PHEV Honda Pilot or full EV Honda Pilot look to you? Does it merit our CGI hall pass?
Interior
This is a minor change, but the cabin looks amazing. You can see many similarities between models such as the CR-V or the new Civic’s dashboard design. The Pilot is more elegant and more luxurious than the CR-V, thanks to the use of finer materials, greater attention to detail, and some unique design solutions.
The cabin is now larger than ever. The wheelbase has been extended, which means that there is more legroom for the rear rows. It feels almost like the front seats are familiar. The SUV has decent seating and plenty of space. It also offers a great driving position. The second row is very spacious and can accommodate adults comfortably. The third row is a bit larger than the previous rows, but it still feels tight for this segment.
The cargo area is now smaller than it was before but it’s still the largest segment. The cargo area may be 18.6 cubic feet lower than the third row, 48.5 cubes higher than the second row, and 87 cubic feet of total cargo volume.

This segment is led by the Toyota Highlander, which generated sales of 66 026 units in Q1 this year, for a market share of 25 percent. The Honda Pilot 2024 is expected to debut in the second half of this year, or early 2023.
