For the 2024 model year, the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD will be refreshed. The Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD pickup truck is getting a new design, an upscale interior, modern tech features, and upgraded powertrains. The 2024 Silverado 2500HD has some new features.
2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Review
The front 2024 Silverado2500HD has a more conservative C-shaped LED light design. The huge grille with “CHEVROLET”, which split the top and bottom portions of the grille are gone. The grille has been replaced by a standard grille featuring Chevrolet’s bowtie emblem. Tow hooks are now standard equipment from Chevrolet. The pickup also comes with dual-projector headlamps that can be animated. Silverado 2500HD is now more in line than 1500.
The interior design of the 2024 Silverado 2500HD has been heavily updated to match that of the Silverado 1500. The truck’s old, bulky center console is gone. It now has a modern design with a central console that sits almost flush with the dash. The touchscreen now houses the physical controls, while the HVAC controls are located at the bottom of the console. The interior materials for the Silverado 2500HD will be better than those of the previous model year.
Chevrolet has not yet provided a complete list of features for the 2024 Silverado 2500HD. However, we do know that the pickup truck will come with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.4-inch central touchscreen. Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play Store will all be available on the infotainment system. It will also include wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Two engines will be offered on the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. There are two engines available: a 6.6-liter V8 engine or a 6.6-liter turbo-diesel version. The gas-fed V8 produces 401 horsepower and 464 pounds-feet of torque. The diesel engine generates 470 HP and 975 lb/ft. The engines can be paired with an automatic transmission of 10 speeds. The Silverado 2500HD can tow up to 22,500 pounds when properly equipped with a diesel engine.
Chevrolet will offer the 2024 Silverado 2500HD equipped with adaptive cruise control, trailer-side blind zone alert, GCW Alert, surround-view camera with transparent trailer mode, forward collision warning, automatic emergency brake, lane departure warning, and lane keeping aid, as well as rear cross-traffic alarm. We don’t anticipate the Silverado2500HD to come standard with advanced safety features because it is a heavy-duty truck.
What is the Silverado 2500HD?
The current Silverado 2500HD may look dated upon its 2020 arrival, as towing and payload capability are often more important than interior design or cutting-edge tech features. The Ford F-250 Super Duty and Ram 2500 had the same performance levels and offered arguably better cabins, despite being older. It was necessary to shift Chevy’s priorities quickly.
We believe it is better to be late than never. With all manner of the interior, exterior, and powertrain upgrades, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD will finally get the complete update it needs. The exterior gets a new look with horizontal bars which reduce the weight of the grille’s bulky maw. The Silverado HD’s exterior has new LED accent lights. They also have a unique look at night. The primary headlights, which are still in a 4-beam arrangement, are now separated by a bar that runs across the grille. It’s a much more cohesive overall effect. We think that the 2024 Silverado HD pickup is a heavy-duty pickup with the right looks.
What is the Silverado 2500HD’s engine?
Two engines are available for the 2024 Silverado 2500HD. Standard is a 6.6-liter gasoline V8 that produces 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft torque. This year’s model has the same output, but the 10-speed Allison transmission replaces the six-speed Hydra-Matic six-speed. This change raises the model’s combined gross weight rating from 24,000 to 26,000 pounds. There are also bumps in maximum towing figures for most crew-cab models.
The Duramax 6.6-liter turbodiesel Duramax is more popular for buyers who are serious about towing. This oil burner produces 470 horsepower and 975 lb-ft of torque, a significant increase from last year’s 445 HP and 910 lb-ft. Towing figures can reach as high as 22,500 pounds when the Max Trailering package is selected, as opposed to the previous limit of 18,510 lbs.
Payload numbers across all models have dropped, unfortunately. While the difference is minute in some trims (the 2022 Silverado 2500HD in the rear-drive/crew-cab/long-bed/diesel configuration could haul 3,536 pounds, while the 2024 version can be loaded with 3,534 pounds), the gulf is wide in others. For instance, the 2022 model in rear-drive/regular-cab/gas configuration had a max payload of 3,979 pounds, while the 2024 model can only haul 3,759 pounds.
What’s the interior like of the Silverado 2500HD?
We are most excited about the Silverado 2500HD’s significant improvements to its cabin. This heavy-duty workhorse comes with the same high-tech interior design as the 2022 Silverado 1500. The vertically oriented center stack and the tiny screen of 8 inches are now horizontal layouts that fit the 2500HD’s width. The new touchscreen measures 13.4 inches diagonally. It also has a high-resolution display that makes a mockery of its predecessor. This system was easy to use and quick in our Silverado 1500.
Rear air vents and climate control, a redesigned console, a wireless charging station, and new materials such as real wood trim for upper models are just a few of the other enhancements. Adaptive cruise control, which can be used while towing, is now available. Transparent Trailer is now available for fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers. It uses multiple cameras to create an image on the touchscreen, giving you the illusion that you can see through your trailer. Blind-spot warning systems will also account for trailers when towing. A new sensor system will notify you when you approach the vehicle’s GCWR.
What are the trim levels of the Silverado 2500HD?
The 2024 Silverado 2500HD is available in many of its current trims — Work Truck, Custom, LT, and LTZ, as well as High Country. There are some new additions. The High Country will now come with the optional blacked-out Midnight Edition package, which is available for the LT or LTZ. The ZR2, an off-road-oriented ZR2, will be added to the lineup later in the model year. It will likely include the upgraded dampers and all-terrain tires, as well as the driver-selectable front- and rear-locking differentials that were featured on the Silverado 1500 ZR2. Keep checking back for more information.
2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Price & Release Date
The pricing for the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is yet to be announced. The truck will be more expensive than the current model, which ranges between $42,295 and $82,245 (with delivery). The pickup truck will arrive in the first half of 2023. There aren’t many pickup trucks that can handle the heavy-duty. The 2024 Silverado 2500HD is expected to compete with the Ford F-250 and GMC Sierra 2500HD.
