Ford is dropping a bombshell for the 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R because the off-road monster truck is now receiving the power of its nearest rival that is it’s the Ram 1500 TRX. In the press release materials for 2024’s F-150 update, Ford didn’t make any promises regarding the Raptor’s powertrain therefore the most likely hypothesis was it would be the same as the 700 hp that it had before the facelift. However, during the unveiling ceremony before the Detroit Auto Show, Ford confirmed that the new Raptor R will have over 700 horsepower.
Ford’s Vice-President for Sales, Distribution, and Trucks, Andrew Frick, made the announcement, saying, “The new F-150 Raptor R is not only our most powerful and off-road capable Raptor ever, it’s targeted to be the most powerful full-size off-road truck ever.”
2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R Review
In the last year, Ford notoriously made headlines when it stated it didn’t care if its Raptor R was short on performance compared to its rival, the Ram 1500 TRX. It could have reduced by 2 horsepower and 10 lb-ft of torque however, it was clear that the Raptor R was several hundred pounds lighter and the appeal of bragging rights might be too powerful to pass up. In the end, you knew that the company wasn’t being second-class citizens. Making attention is an important aspect of promoting a car like this, and it seems like the company is looking to achieve that.
The phrase “targeted to be the most powerful” is a bit snobby. It could mean that the company has made a few minor adjustments that make the truck more powerful in its written form or perhaps it’s still deciding the details of what these changes will be. At present, all we can wait and see what the company will announce officially, and, no matter what they say we know that there will be much less competition once the truck arrives at dealerships.
Engine
Its sole ICE-powered rival The Ram TRX, is on its way out by 2023’s close due to Stellantis’ decision to end its 6.2-liter turbocharged V8. The company is moving towards electrification just like other companies with the fully electric Ram 1500 REV will take its place. This means that the Raptor R will exist all by itself, at the top of the line, and thanks to improvements the highest it can be.
Specs
The new Fox Dual Live shocks with continuously variable rebound controls are certain to improve the trucks to travel off and on greatly. A new bumper with a modular design that is compatible with 37-inch tires makes the massive beast more functional and impressive. Baja Mode will now display all the off-road information you require on your head-up display, too.
Exterior
A front bumper revamp with an LED light bar atop that inside Rigid LED cubes as well as wider and stronger tow hooks are shown as an elongated, modular, adaptability to accessories for the 2024 Raptor. Other innovations to the exterior style include a widening grille that is a blackout and a revamped, elegantly contoured lighting head and tails. In marking its territory, Raptor images can be seen on the body, hood, and even the wheels. To emphasize its bold appearance The Raptor R edition rumbles off the track with the Power Dome hood as the backdrop for the unique images.
Its R trim also features badges on the wheels, the front frame, and the box sides. Whittled edges on the bumper’s front show more of the Raptor’s aggressive all-terrain tires and boost off-road capabilities. Although 35-inch tires are standard, the Ford Raptor R builds and has an upgraded package that uses 37-inch A/T tires that are wrapped around the unique, cast aluminum bead lock capable wheels.
Towing And Fuel Economy
What is it that the Raptor gets by gaining cool features, the Raptor also gives the ability to tow just 8,200 pounds, which is less than those of Raptor with 8,700 pounds on the Raptor R. If the maximum towing limits are in 2023, that’s only a fraction of the capabilities of Ford F-150s that can reach 14,000 pounds. The 2024 fuel rating for the Raptor isn’t available yet. If they’re comparable in comparison to 2023’s Raptor The V-6 with 35 hp is a combination of 16 MPG and a total range of 560 miles. Its Raptor R attains 12 MPG and a range of 432 miles.
