The famous 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420-liter horsepower (309 kW) will be available in RST and Z71 trims. The 6.2-liter V8 engine for Tahoe and Suburban RST will be equipped with Magnetic Ride Control. This system is standard on Premier and High Country trims, and it’s also available for Z71.
The 5.3-liter V8 is still the standard engine for LS, LT, and Z71 models. All models, except Z71, can be equipped with the optional Duramax 3.0L turbo-diesel unit. All Tahoe and Suburban models come standard with 10-speed automatic transmissions equipped with push-button electronic shifts. For the model year 2024, you can also expect limited-slip electronic differentials to improve traction.
What can we expect in 2024?
- Three trims are available for the 6.2L V8 engine: RST, Z71, or Premier.
- Z71 now has a new electronic limited-slip differential
- The new digital instrument cluster is 12.3 inches larger in LT trim and higher
- New colors: Evergreen Grey Metallic, Auburn Metallic, and Dark Ash Metallic
- Standard Front and Rear Parking Assist, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Deviation Warning
- Google Assistant for LT and Higher Trims
Next is the electronic limited-slip diff, which can be used on the Z71 model. It replaces the American Axle’s mechanical limited-slip diff. Tahoe and Suburban are a bit late to the party – the 2021 YUKON GMC receives eLSD 2021 – but it’s better than nothing.
You can look inside your trailer with an accessory camera. All Tahoes and Suburbans in the LT class have a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Google will now be the standard for trucks with lt trim. This means that drivers can use Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play. All of these are compatible with Android Auto SUV implementations and Apple CarPlay. Google’s functionality does not require a smartphone. It can control audio volume, radio functionality, and Google Maps navigation. To use this feature, you will need a service package.
Safety
All trims now include Front and Rear Park Assist, Lane Keeping Assist with Lane Departure Alert, and Lane Keeping Assist With Lane Departure Warning.
You will need a seat belt if you plan to drive a Tahoe 2024 or a Suburban 2024. If one of your front passengers is not in their seat, interlock seat belts will prevent you from moving out of the garage. Traffic safety advocates long aspire to this.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
The available diesel engine is the most efficient, achieving 21 mpg in city driving and 28 mpg on the highway. Although the standard 5.3-liter V-8 is slightly more efficient in the city than its optional 6.2-liter V-8 counterpart, both engines are rated at 20 MPG on the highway. As part of our rigorous testing, we tested a diesel-powered Tahoe at 27 mpg on our 75-mph highway route. Visit the EPA website for more information on the Tahoe’s fuel economy.
New Technology
Tahoe offers three new camera angles for those who value towing. These include a rear trailer display, a picture-in-picture side view, and the option of installing cameras inside trailers. This is in addition to the ever-popular transparent trailer illusion.
All SUVs with lt trim or higher now have Google Assistant compatibility along with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto for voice control, call steering, messaging, climate control, and navigation. LT and above also get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that includes four gauges and an information layout.
Tahoe driver assistance packages include parking assistance (front and back) and fixed lanes assistance (with lane departure alerts) to the Chevy Safety Assist suite that is standard on all models. The new Buckle to Drive system will not allow gear pickers to get out of their parking spots until the front passenger and driver (if detected) have buckled up.
Infotainment & Connectivity
Relaxed road trips are possible when passengers feel comfortable. The Tahoe’s solid infotainment system and connectivity features make this easy. Each model comes with a 10.2-inch touchscreen, which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as a Wi-Fi Hotspot. The three-row Chevy also features several interior charging ports. It also has an optional Bose stereo system and a rear-seat entertainment system with 2 12.6-inch displays behind the seats.
Powertrain
The V8 engine’s 6.2-liter displacement produces 420 horsepower. It’s available on RST and Z71 engines, as well as the Premier, and it is standard in High Country.
The engine features dual exhaust and dynamic fuel management technology. Magnetic ride control is standard on the Premier and High Country models of the 6.2-liter 6.2-liter engine, and it is also available on Z71’s 6.2-liter model.
A 5.3-liter V8 and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel are also available. Each machine comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission and an electronic shift push button. An electronic limited-slip differential can improve your driving performance under all weather and road conditions.
2024 Chevrolet Tahoe Price & Release Date
Chevrolet has not yet announced prices for different SUV trim levels, likely due to shortages of chips and parts related to the pandemic. These numbers will be available soon, with three new exterior paint colors: Evergreen Grey metallic, Auburn Metallic, and Dark Ash metallic.
Given the high market demand, it seems unlikely that one of the six trim levels for Tahoe will be less expensive than the last year’s model. Tahoe 2021 starts at $51,295, which includes destination fees. The additional LT option increases the price to $55,995.
RST sports exterior details like 22-inch alloy wheels, black trim, or body parts, and is $59,095, while the Z71 is $61,195 if equipped with a 4-wheel drive. Premium trims can be upgraded with high-quality interior materials, safety features, and other amenities for $64,495 or $71,935, respectively.
The 6.2-liter V8 added $1,500 to 2021 High Country’s 2021 High Country. Four-wheel drive costs $3,000 for every trim except Z71. The Suburban 2021 costs $2,000 to $2,500 more than the Tahoe.
