The Chevelle brand has not been used for many years. It took many decades for the iconic muscle car to be reintroduced after the fuel crisis. Trans Am International converted the current Camaro generation to create the new version. The new model, which was launched last summer, is now being reported to be a GM-exclusive.
It’s difficult to know what this means at the moment. We assume that GM will follow the lead of rivals and release a new, all-electric vehicle with an old name. The Chevelle badge will be used to promote the new EV just as Ford did with its Mustang Mach-E, and Dodge with their next-generation Charger.
2024 Chevy Chevelle Review
We’ve already said that it has been a while since we have seen a new Chevy Chevelle. The last generation of the Chevy Chevelle was discontinued in 1977. A new model, made by Trans Am International in Florida, came out last summer. This is not a brand-new model. The current-generation Camaro was used as the basis. This 2024 Chevy Chevelle has the same chassis and suspension. The sheet metal, and the exterior design in general, are totally different. The front windshield was the only thing that remained. You can still see interesting details of the classic Chevelle.
Interior
Inside, there aren’t many changes, but you will find some exclusive details. You’ll first notice the retro-styled seats. There is also a special carpet and unique badges for door panels, instrument clusters, etc. There is also a Hurst classic shifter with a cue-ball-style knob.
Engine & Specs
The powertrain of this unique Chevelle comes in three different variants. The most powerful variant is equipped with a modern version of the LS6/X engine that was previously exclusive to El Camino and Chevelle. It is also lighter and more powerful. The 7.4-liter turbocharged engine has a maximum output of 1,500 horsepower. The less powerful models come with a V8 engine that produces 900 horsepower. The most basic version is 450 horsepower. It’s great to know that manual and automatic transmissions are both available.
2024 Chevy Chevelle Rumors
There is a good chance that General Motors will produce the Chevelle again if we believe rumors. The new model will be an all-electric vehicle, and the Chevelle name would be used as a marketing tool to promote the new EV. This is a familiar scenario that has been used before by competitors, so we may see a lot of disgruntled purists.
It’s not clear whether the all-electric version will feature a classic design or a modern one, perhaps with an SUV-like body. Many speculate that interesting technical solutions will be implemented, like multiple gears, or exhaust speakers. Dodge just did this with its all-electric Charger. The new 2024 Chevy Chevelle will be based on GM’s new Ultium Battery Technology. Keep your distance from the 2024 Chevy Chevelle all-electric.
