Cadillac has announced that it will launch an electric version of its legendary Escalade, its large and luxurious SUV that is well-liked by A-listers all over the world. General Motors already has a big electric SUV within its lineup that is the Hummer EV SUV from GMC and we’re expecting that this model will donate its Ultium design to be used for the Caddy.
The 2024 Cadillac Escalade IQ is less durable than the Hummer and is expected to come with three seating rows and all the features that are already present in the current Escalade. Some concerns have been raised regarding how green these big and weighty EVs can be, however, that’s going to prevent Escalade IQ from bringing its iconic name into the era of electric vehicles.
2024 Cadillac Escalade IQ Changes
Exterior
There is only an image of the exterior of the 2024 Cadillac Escalade that was released but it only revealed more than the model’s name. We wouldn’t expect the design of the IQ to be a radical change in comparison to the petrol-fueled Escalade similar to the same way that the Ford F-150 Lightning is still identified by its designation as an F-150.
All in all, we can anticipate the brand new 2024 Cadillac Escalade IQ to come with an equally large footprint, with a high front end that can make pedestrians run across the street at a speed a bit quicker than they normally do, and a slim profile to provide a roomy cabin.
The place where the IQ could differ is in the finer details in the way it can take certain design elements from the less slender Lyriq. It could see the classic grille replaced by a smoothed-over front panel with more snazzy lighting, and smaller daytime running lights, which we’ve imagined in our rendering. The back is a slimmer area, with horizontal LEDs blending perfectly with the classic Escalade profile that we’ve come to be familiar with.
Colors
Wheel sizes are expected to be larger than 22 inches, though perhaps Cadillac will offer a smaller wheel to enhance the 2024 Cadillac Escalade’s IQ range. The colors of this model of the Cadillac Escalade IQ have been identified yet, however, the standard Escalade is available in colors such as Argent Silver, Dark Emerald along with Crystal White. We’d be surprised to learn that a black variant was not available for this version of the Escalade Intel, a hue that’s as tightly tied with the Caddy SUV as red is to the color of a Ferrari.
Interior and Cargo
Its gas-powered 2024 Cadillac Escalade already has a stunning cabin stuffed with luxurious materials and impressive technology. It’s an excellent basis for the interiors and exterior of the Cadillac Escalade IQ unless the manufacturer decides to offer the IQ a completely different layout inside. In the standard Escalade, as shown below, you can see a stunning OLED curving display with around 38 total inches of display space which includes the 16.9-inch touchscreen as well as an 14.2-inch gauge cluster. It is equipped with all usual connectivity features, as well as a powerful 19-speaker system, or an additional 36-speaker AKG Studio Reference sound system which is among the top available at the moment.
We expect this model 2024 Cadillac Escalade IQ is going to be more sophisticated, and a recent report suggests that the Escalade is expected to be released with a full-width digital display that will cover the entire dashboard. This is the system of the Celestiq. Navigation using Augmented Reality, available Super Cruise, front pedestrian detection, and all kinds of parking aids are expected to be available.
The seats of the new 2024 Cadillac Escalade IQ Electric SUV are likely to get heated for the two first rows, with the upper trims featuring a massage feature and leather upholstery or leatherette. The standard Escalade has luxurious trim choices like Natural Figured Ash wood and Parchment Tamo Ash wood which is also the standard of luxury to be expected from the IQ model, too.
Similar to the standard Escalade Like the regular Escalade, the 2024 Cadillac Escalade IQ will come with three seating rows, including the second row of captain’s chairs. It is interesting to see how the electric powertrain will let Cadillac create more space for passengers and their belongings. The space for cargo within Escalade IQ Cadillac Escalade IQ could match the space of the regular Escalade which amounts to approximately 25.5 cubic meters behind the 3rd row. 72.9 cubes in the back row behind, and 121 cubic feet behind the front row.
Dimensions
This could be among the largest EVs when it finally arrives on the roads since sizes for the 2024 Cadillac Escalade IQ are likely to be similar to the dimensions of the gas-powered version (pictured here). The standard Escalade is 211.9 inches long and is equipped with a 120.9-inch wheelbase. Its width is huge also, at 81.1 inches, and its size is 76.7 inches. If you think that’s not enough for you, Cadillac is also selling the huge Escalade ESV that measures 227 inches long and features an extended 134.1-inch wheelbase, however, it’s not known if the 2024 Cadillac Escalade IQ ESV will ever be made available.
Its combination of massive battery and massive dimensions makes the 2024 Cadillac Escalade IQ among the heaviest vehicles available on the roads. In the past, an uncut teardown clip showed the reason why it is so heavy. Hummer EV has a staggering curb weight of more than 9000 pounds. The Escalade is a larger vehicle, in some ways and, should the IQ model comes with the large battery as the Hummer and Escalade, it may exceed 9,000 pounds.
Powertrain And Performance
Though we’re only able to speculate at this point since the technical specifications haven’t yet been revealed, however, the Cadillac Escalade’s powertrain will likely be used in conjunction with its counterpart, the GMC Hummer EV. The Hummer EV SUV, the tri-motor configuration generates 830 horsepower and up to 11,500 pounds of torque, but it’s the combined axle torque, which is somewhat inaccurate. Although it’s not as heavy as we’d like it to be, these outputs will make the Escalade the IQ with a probable speed of 0-60 mph in less than four seconds, which makes it faster than the Escalade V with its supercharged V8 engine.
GMC also made available a version that was a version of its Hummer EV Pickup with 1,000 horsepower, which means the 2024 Cadillac Escalade IQ is likely to be even faster with this kind of power. Although a rear-wheel drive version is possible, an all-wheel drive will be either available for all trims, or regular. The gas-powered Escalade can carry 8200 pounds or more, it’s unlikely an electric Escalade IQ can match that. To ensure that it is as comfortable as it can be, the new Escalade IQ is expected to be equipped with the standard Escalade’s magnetic Ride Control and Air Ride Adaptive Suspension.
Gas Mileage, Range, and Charging
In the age of technology at the moment, a huge battery is the best option to create a huge EV with a decent range. GMC demonstrated this when it installed a massive of 205-kWh (usable capacity) battery inside Hummer EV Pickup. Hummer EV Pickup and it’s only sufficient for an estimated range of 355 miles, or 314 miles in The Hummer the EV-powered SUV. This Hummer’s efficiency ranks as among the worst in the world of EVs with just 47 MPGe when combined.
There is a chance that the 2024 Cadillac Escalade IQ will not be as inefficient, since it doesn’t have to be redesigned or strengthened for off-road usage as the Hummer however this is yet to be determined. For charging, the 800-volt DC fast-charging capacity of the Hummer allows charging of up to 300 kW. This is something the Escalade IQ is also able of.
2024 Cadillac Escalade IQ Release Date & Price
While a precise release date for the Cadillac Escalade IQ hasn’t been disclosed, the company has confirmed that it will be revealed in 2023, in the USA. We’re guessing it’ll be released in 2024, at the end of 2023, or towards the beginning of 2024.
The price of the 2024’s Cadillac Escalade IQ hasn’t been disclosed yet and may be announced when the unveiling date is closer. It is known that the base Escalade is priced at $79,295 for MSRP. we expect an electric Escalade IQ will be more costly than that and cost around $90,000. The higher trims and/or the higher-powered models will surely surpass $100k.
Traditional Escalade rivals such as the Lincoln Navigator and Jeep Grand Wagoneer aren’t yet electrical, which means that the Navigator will be among the first vehicles to achieve this. Anyone interested in exploring options beyond traditional automakers might be interested in the Rivian R1S SUV, but it isn’t branded with the same prestige and prestige of the Escalade brand name.
